Why You Need a Morning Routine

If you're at home during the days "working" on your writing, you know how easy it is to take just a few too many breaks.

When you are the one in charge of your time, with no one looking over your shoulder, it's very easy to put things off again and again, before staring into the eyes of the afternoon.

How can this be avoided?

It's incredibly helpful to set your own morning routine, something that gets you going. Remember those days when you had to get up and head off to work? Having a similar morning routine that helps you wake up and be ready to focus is essential.

The simple act of getting out of your jammies and into "real world" clothes is known to help set your mind to your daily tasks.

If you're like me you need some coffee in the morning to get your mind going. And it's not just the caffeine either. Just holding cup in hand starts my mind working on the next piece of writing that I need to accomplish.

So, wake up, get dressed. When you exert self control early on and get some writing done, you'll feel more accomplished and energetic to get even more done.

What about you? What works to get you on track for the day?
