Participate in the World Around You

Writing tends to be a solitary pursuit. Not only does a writer often need "quiet" time to themselves, they are also immersed in a world that no one else knows about (well, yet anyway.) It can be easy to tuck yourself away, keeping the important word count in mind as you try to produce your novel or article in a reasonable amount of time.

It is imperative though to make time for people and undefinably helpful to keep yourself participating in the world around you.

What are some small ways you can participate in life?

- leave comments on blogs
- spend a few minutes sendings emails to friends and loved ones
- find out what's happening in your city and attend a summer event
- strike up small conversations with people you meet in your daily life

Participation can mean inspiration. If you stick yourself behind the computer and don't reach out, you'll be less happy, have less to say in your writing, and be less energetic to say it

Maybe this advice seems obvious to some, but there are a few people who get so focused in their interest that it's hard to remember this helpful advice that can lead to more happiness and better writing.

Happy summer everyone!
